Wavecontrol
From 1997 Wavecontrol has been involved in the EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) designing, developing, manufacturing and distribution of instrumentation and components for commercial, government and defence purposes.
Wavecontrol offers a comprehensive product line in different areas:
SMP, Portable Monitoring System
The SMP Portable Electromagnetic Field Monitoring System can measure electromagnetic field levels generated by any source within the frequency range of the probe attached to the system.
For example it can measure fields generated by different sources such as mobile telephone base stations, radio and television transmitters and repeaters, DECT systems, Wi-Fi systems, etc.
Those measurements can be made quickly and easily anywhere because the SMP is portable and simple to handle and use, the data is stored in memory and can easily be downloaded to a computer via a USB port for later processing.
Features
The SMP can sample the field level continuously and store that data automatically in its built-in memory at user-configured intervals with a capacity of up to 32,000 samples.
The SMP is designed for simple and intuitive operation with 2 basic functions:
- Instant and averaged field measurement
- storage of field measurements in memory
The SMP integrates a new multi-measurement system that allows performing instant measurements of the total field level, Ex, Ey and Ez separately, continuous measurements, arithmetic averaging, minimum and maximum values, and normative measurements.
The internal configurable alarm generates an audible signal (warning) when the measured level exceeds the adjustable threshold.
The SMP can be equipped with an internal GPS module so the measured data can be associated to its position and displayed on a GIS application.
Different kind of field probes are available and can be easily changed thanks to its probe automatic recognition system.
The SMP contains a rechargeable Li-ion battery allowing the apparatus to run for over 10 hours.

RFMS, Radio Frequency Monitoring System
This innovative system, developed and manufactured by Wavecontrol in collaboration with the Electromagnetic Compatibility Group of the Catalonian Polytechnic University, consists of a series of Monitoring Stations located in areas of special interest and controlled by remote control from a computer Control Centre.
Monitoring Stations carry out continuous Electromagnetic Field measurements (24hours a day/365 days a year). From a Control Centre you can communicate with the Stations to request information regarding electromagnetic field levels, as well as updating the unit with any new parameters.
Technical Description
this unique system is the result of a joint project undertaken by Wavecontrol and the Catalonian Polytechnic University.
From a technological point of view the system contains a hardware component, the Remote Monitoring Stations, a software component, and Control Centre.
The Monitoring Stations perform continuous field readings, average the values according to requirements and store the data to be periodically sent to the Control Centre.
The Control Centre is in charge of receiving and processing data measured by the Remote Monitoring Stations.
Hardware
> Measurements of GSM900, GSM1800 and UMTS > Measurement range: 0.06 - 60 V/m > Averaging of data values > Data Transfer
The hardware system fundamentally consists of a reception block and electromagnetic field measurement, a management block averaging and recording the data, and a communications component that is in charge of transferring the data to the Control Centre.
The hardware system also has a programmable observational system that activates alarms in the case a field detected has a higher level than expected.
Applications
The two fundamental applications of the SMRF are:
- Control of an emission source:
In this case the source to be controlled is Mobile Phone Base Stations. The installation of the Remote Monitoring Stations can be set in several functional positions depending on the measurement function or the specific control that we want to perform regarding the Telephone Base Station. It is recommended to seek points of maximum radiation from the Base Station, thus enabling one to assure that the remaining points will remain below the controlled and registered values.
- Control of a Sensitive Site:
In this case the concern is not so much as to where the radiation comes from, but the level itself of total radiation in an especially sensitive location such as a school, hospital, or buildings near Telephone Base Stations etc. The placement therefore of the Remote Monitoring Stations should be undertaken at the point where the levels that we wish to control are.
